Events began at the Oxbow Prairie Horizons School with Dexter Mondor, president of Métis Nation Saskatchewan Local 182, starting the day with prayer.

To support the event, people attending were asked to bring a non-perishable item for the Carlyle and District Food Bank. Organizers presented 28 turkeys and many items collected during the event.

The Weyburn Rotary Club delivered their pledge of $50,000 to the Weyburn and District Hospital Foundation on Thursday, for the new hospital under construction.

All proceeds from the online auction will be contributed to the total goal of the 42nd Weyburn Communithon.

The financial institutions include the Weyburn branches of the Bank of Montreal, Scotia Bank, and Weyburn Credit Union.

A number of events and activities will be held at the Weyburn Public Library in October, including the fall book sale, a concert and pumpkin carving.

The preschool's 32 kids were asked why they are thankful. The kids gave an answer and had their photo taken, and the answers, sponsored by local businesses, are spread throughout this week's edition of the Mercury.

A number of special activities and events are scheduled for Culture Days on Saturday, Oct. 7 at the Credit Union Spark Centre, and an artist's reception on Oct. 6.
