WAWOTA - The Wawota Royal Canadian Legion presented a Remembrance Day ceremony at the Legion Club Rooms. A large green cross had been constructed with 38 poppies on it for the 38 names on the cenotaph. Jean Bogner read a poem about the war that her father Wilfred Dennis had composed. A good-sized group attended the ceremony.
The senior girls volleyball team won the gold medal at the 1A conference championship at Stoughton with a record of 4-0. Last weekend they travelled to Churchbridge to participate in the regional playoffs. They beat Lemberg in their final game and are off to provincials in Loreburn next weekend. What a great accomplishment.
Congratulations to Mike and Evelyn Nelson on the birth of their son, who was born on Oct. 28. He weighed 3.66 kilograms (approximately eight pounds). He was named Lucas Nathan and he is a brother for Xyvrill, Keisha and Elijah. He is also a grandson for Darrell and Loretta Nelson of Regina Beach and Ovencio and Remedios Gardin of the Philippines.
Dawn (Page) Johnson of Estevan visited with family members in Wawota recently. She was on hand to help niece Aurora Ethier celebrate her sixth birthday.
Tim and Joan Gartner and their daughter Nicole from Montreal visited with George and Suzanne Eisler and other family members last weekend.
Eileen Shatford motored to Regina last Monday for two medical appointments. While there she met her newest great-granddaughter, Scarlett Suzanne Burnett. Scarlett is Eileen's seventh great grandchild.
Family members gathered at Sask Aire on Nov. 13. They were there to spread the ashes of the late Adrienne Hambleton. Adrienne passed away last month at the age of 36 years.
