ESTEVAN - Tyler Neil Shaw was back in Estevan Provincial Court on Monday.

Shaw, who hails from Gainsborough, is charged with one count of being an accessory to murder after the fact following Briana Hayes' death in April.

His matter was adjourned to Dec. 16.

Shaw's attorney received a significant amount of disclosure earlier in the fall and is looking for added time to review everything.

The co-accused in the case, Taylor Japp of Oxbow, is charged with second-degree murder. He will return to court in Carlyle for a preliminary hearing in June 2025.

Both men were released from custody with conditions earlier this year.

Background: On April 24, the Carlyle RCMP received a report of a potential homicide. The Saskatchewan RCMP Major Crimes Unit took control of the investigation and began working to confirm this information. As a result of the investigation, Hayes' body was found in a rural location in the RM of Moose Mountain around noon on April 25.

Shaw was arrested and charged the same day, while the second-degree murder charge against Japp was announced on April 26.
