While there is much that is positive about social media in terms of staying connected with friends, or being in touch with like-minded people in terms of hobbies and interests, it is far from an ideal medium for news about happenings in our world.

The Carlyle Cougars hosted the rival Arcola/Kisbey Combines Friday, Nov. 8 at the Carlyle Sports Arena. The rink was very busy, the community having made every effort to see this night would be a special one.

Lately I’ve been cleaning out my office. After combing through a quarter-century of published articles and studies, I was ready to toss it all out and forget about saving what I’d deemed essential. So glad I didn’t and here’s why.

• We received a 911 call in relation to a collision involving a deer. The vehicle was operable and we did not need the report. The Member provided the number 310-RCMP for future non-urgent calls.

Remembrance Day 2019

A few weeks ago, I was shopping in the Co-op in Carlyle, and a woman from White Bear and I were both criss-crossing paths, each obviously searching for something.

There is no school on Friday, Nov. 8, due to a teacher PD day and no school on Remembrance Day, Monday, Nov.11. The band concert is on Wednesday, November 27 at 7:30 pm.
