Sewing machines were busily humming at St. George鈥檚 Roman Catholic Church in Assiniboia on November 16. Members of the women鈥檚 auxiliary and other volunteers embarked on phase two of their pro颅ject to sew dresses for impoverished children in Mexico.

For Mara Speck living in Assiniboia is an adventure. Speck is from Zug, Switzerland and she in on a year-long Rotary international student exchange. She is attending school at the Assiniboia Composite High School and ex颅periencing school life.

Remembrance Day on November 11 is the biggest day of the year for the Assiniboia Branch No. 17 Legion. The Legion鈥檚 membership has been active selling wreaths to local businesses and poppies through its poppy drive.
