Weyburn police arrest B.C. man for cocaine trafficking

In the search of a Weyburn home, police found over half a kilogram of cocaine with a street value of $86,000 and over $1,000 in cash. They have charged a 31-year-old man from B.C.

Death investigation in Regina

The Regina Police Service have begun a death investigation, in conjunction with the Saskatchewan Coroners Service, after the discovery of a deceased person in the 1200-block Rae Street early on the morning of June 29.

Weyburn police charge man with assault with weapon, threats

Weyurn officers responded to a reported assault on Wednesday evening that resulted in an adult male facing several charges. The male, facing charges of uttering a threat, two counts of assault with a weapon, and two counts of failing to comply with a condition of his release, was arrested and later released with an upcoming court appearance.

Locked up for murder in '94: Were Sask. sisters innocent?

 Almost three decades later, the question, were two Saulteaux sisters wrongfully convicted of second-degree murder, lingers. The 1994 convictions of Odelia and Nerissa Quewezance from Keeseekoose First Nation for the 1993 murder of 70-year-old Joseph Dolff of Kamsack are currently under review by the federal justice department as a possible miscarriage of justice.

Lawyers challenge COVID lockdown restrictions in Saskatoon court

A constitutional challenge to the province’s COVID restrictions on outdoor protests was heard in Saskatoon Court of Queen’s Bench June 29.

Constitutional lawyers Marty Moore and Andre Memauri from the Justice Centre for Constitutional Freedoms based out of Calgary represented two anti-lockdown protesters who were ticketed for attending outdoor protests, which exceeded the province’s 10-person limit on outdoor gatherings.

Multiple police forces work together to arrest drivers of stolen vehicles

Saskatchewan RCMP Acting Central District Commander Inspector Brent Olberg says the safe and successful arrests of suspects fleeing in stolen vehicles were the result of seamless teamwork between Saskatoon RCMP, Lanigan RCMP, Humboldt RCMP, Watrous RCMP, CTSS, SPS and SPS Air One.

Federal police looking for man who skipped sentencing

Police continue their search for a man who failed to show up to be sentenced on drug trafficking and weapons offences. A spokesperson for Saskatchewan RCMP told SASKTODAY.ca June 29 that their investigation is ongoing and the Saskatchewan RCMP Federal Serious and Organized Crime Unit is still looking for 41-year-old Kurt Miller. Miller failed to appear in North Battleford Provincial Court in February when he was to be sentenced.

Miller's co-accused, Mitch Hutchinson, was sentenced in July 2021 to seven years in prison.

Woman involved in incident where officers shot at gets bail

Nikeyta Bradfield, 24, who is accused of helping a man charged with shooting at police was released on bail June 27 in La Ronge court. She allegedly helped 29-year-old Terrance Arnold Daigenault who is charged with attempted murder for shooting at police officers and a police vehicle.

Standingwater's accused killer gets life: No parole for 15 years

A man found guilty of second-degree murder in the death of 57-year-old Roger Fabian Standingwater on Thunderchild First Nation was handed a for 15 years.

A jury found Ivor Antoine Wapass guilty in February and he was sentenced June 27 in Battleford Court of Queen’s Bench.
