Wilkie Outlaws pay it forward with kids hockey camp

Wilkie's senior hockey team choose to pay it forward by passing on their knowledge and experience to the next generation of Wilkie hockey players by hosting a two day kids hockey camp.

WILKIE ‑ Oct. 16 and 17, the Wilkie Outlaws senior hockey team hosted a hockey camp for kids as part of their efforts to give back to the hockey community.

Although attendance was down from previous years, 44 kids were able to attend the two-day event.

Outlaws’ spokesperson, Ryan Cey, says, “We didn't have any kids registered for the U-18 and U-15 this year as they had school volleyball going on at the same time. We are still very happy with the turnout. “

Fifteen members of the Outlaws took a turn helping with the camp. Derek Keller did most of the teaching, drills and skills at this camp.

“This camp is one of things the Outlaws enjoy doing and help by giving back to the community providing the kids with some great skills coming from many players that played a high level of hockey over the years. You can see the excitement on the kids as they get to skate with many of the players throughout the weekend,” said Cey
