UNITY - Both junior and senior high school volleyball teams at local schools are ready for playoff season. While senior teams have the opportunity to secure a provincial berth with their playoff runs, junior teams only have the option of conference and district playoffs.
Kerrobert junior girls will attend conference playoffs in Unity on Oct. 30. The one tournament they attended this year resulted in a semi final loss, however they have won their after-school games. Coaches are Bailey Milne, Rhayne Thomson and Katherine Dyck.
The Kerrobert junior boys felt fortunate to be able to play some actual games this year. The boys will finish their season with a tournament in Unity, a final game against Luseland and they will finish their season off with a supper and awards night. Coach this year was Bev Kraft.
The Kerrobert senior girls played in tournaments in Wilkie, a home tournament, Unity, North Battleford and Rosetown. Their conference playoffs will be hosted in Kerrobert for the 1A, North Region, on Nov. 6. The teams at this conference will include Kerrobert, Luseland, Edam, HIllmond and Plenty. Candice Kraft and Torey Kwiatkowski coach this team.
Rhonda Gartner coaches the junior A girls’ volleyball team out of Unity Composite High School. The team competed at four tournaments, that included two silvers and a bronze medal. In addition to tournaments, the team has also been involved in league play. Unity will play host to conference playoffs on Oct. 30 with the top four teams from this day advancing to District Championships in Unity on Nov. 4. A provincial berth is on the line.
Senior girls and boy’s volleyball at UCHS begin their conference playdowns with girls on Nov. 6 and boys on Nov. 13. Winning teams will advance to regionals with a provincial berth up for grabs. Unity will host senior boys’ provincials on Nov. 26th weekend.

For McLurg High School out of Wilkie, the juniors will take part in Battle West Â鶹ÊÓƵ Conferences on Oct. 30. Those teams advancing will play at Battle West Districts on Nov. 4 with Unity hosting girls and Wilkie hosting boys, with both draws including eight teams.
In senior high volleyball at McLurg, Wilkie will play host to 2A boys conferences on Nov. 13 and there are six teams slated to face off for two spots to advance to regional playdowns.
The senior boys McLurg Broncs have been to six tournaments, winning gold in Langham and Unity, silver in Wilkie and at JPII, 4th place at PA Carlton and winning another stunning final against Unity in Outlook earning another gold.
The Wilkie senior girls will head to Eatonia on Nov5/6 for 2A conferences with seven teams vying for two spots to advance to regionals. Senior girl’s coach, Lesley Sittler, says the girls played in five tournaments, taking silver in Rosetown and bronze at their home tournament, with two tournaments left before playoffs.
