Golden generator and fall fun are new at Parkview Place

Parkview Place senior assisted living facility in Unity heralds their community funded generator for its help in recent power outages

UNITY - At Parkview Place, a senior assisted living facility in Unity, residents and staff wholeheartedly agree the generator has proved its worth more than once, thanks to community donations that made this project happen.

Parkview manager, Paula Sittler, says it has been kicked into action at least 10 times since installation. One of those times included a three-hour stretch when the power was out in downtown Unity this past summer as a result of a collision with a transformer pole.

Parkview Place continues to engage residents in activity and now the weather has become fall, and soon winter, activity has  moved indoors.

Residents continue to enjoy live entertainment. The group is also planning a trip to see the new cemetery sign in early November.

Later in November, residents will enjoy the always popular French onion soup meal, although not with the crowds from the community they were accustomed to prior to the pandemic.

The AGM for Parkview is Nov. 25.

Sitller is also organizing a collection of good news stories from near and far as she is initiating a morning activity with the same name in her efforts to get residents away from the televisions and providing them something uplifting to talk about at dinner.

Of course, four-legged friend Scout, continues to provide pet therapy and smiles on his daily visits. Scout provides therapy and attention to the residents at Parkview and extends his outreach also staff, paramedics, RNs, CCAs as well as visiting family and friends.

“Everyone looks forward to seeing Scout and his exuberant tail wags whether they are a resident, staff member or visitor," says Sitller."He is also a very proficient treat eater, ball chaser, stuffed toy destroyer and missing puzzle piece detective.”
