Premier Lorne Calvert called a provincial general election for Nov. 5.
After winning a national award, Unity’s Communities in Bloom committee was toasted at a wine and cheese social open to the public. Also attending was provincial director John Firnsz who told the crowd Unity was the first Saskatchewan community to win at the national level.
After a second call for nominations, Wilkie was going to have an election for its final council seat. Putting their names forward were Gus McMaster and Mary Ellen Herzog.
Wilkie Outlaws players were to meet over Thanksgiving weekend to decide the fate of the team for the 2003-04 season. Proposed weekday games and travel to the northern towns of Turtleford, Paradise Hill and Edam were a stumbling block for players living in Saskatoon.
