SASKATOON – Two men are facing several charges after they were found in possession of firearms and conducted energy weapons following an assault on Feb. 27.
At approximately 10:30 a.m., patrol officers responded to the 2300 block of 33rd Street West for a report of an assault and an individual in possession of a firearm. Members from the Guns & Gangs Unit and Canine Unit also assisted at the scene.
Upon arrival, officers observed two men exiting the residence. Further investigation revealed that one of the men was concealing a loaded sawed-off rifle, a knife, and a homemade conducted energy weapon (CEW). The second man was also found to be in possession of a homemade CEW.
A search warrant was executed as part of the investigation, leading to the seizure of a pellet gun, rifle ammunition, and additional evidence. Officers also located the victim, a 35-year-old woman, who was found to be not seriously injured.
A 37-year-old man now faces 16 weapons- and assault-related charges. The second individual, a 44-year-old man, is charged with possession of a dangerous weapon, carrying a concealed weapon, and prohibited possession of a weapon.
The investigation remains ongoing.
