Woman accused of attacking man with machete in a business seeks bail

Erin Whitefish is charged with assault with a weapon, aggravated assault, possession of a weapon for a dangerous purpose, uttering threats, and possession of methamphetamine

PRINCE ALBERT – A woman accused of assaulting a man with a machete at a business made her first appearance in Prince Albert court Friday.

Big River First Nation resident, 33-year-old Erin Whitefish, was arrested after Ahtahkakoop RCMP responded to a report of a woman with a machete at business in Canwood around 9 a.m. April 6. Big River First Nation is about 27 kilometres northwest of Canwood. Canwood is a village of about 314 people and is approximately 69 kilometres northeast of Prince Albert.

Police seized the machete at the scene from the woman and an injured man was taken to hospital by EMS for treatment of his injuries.

Whitefish was charged with two counts of assault with a weapon, aggravated assault, two counts of uttering threats, possession of a weapon for a dangerous purpose, and possession of methamphetamine.

Whitefish is now scheduled to appear in Prince Albert court April 11 for a show cause hearing.
