Trial set in Spiritwood court for man accused of pointing firearm at youth

SPIRITWOOD – A trial has been set for a Leoville man charged with weapons-related offences after allegedly pointing a firearm at several youth.

The trial for 32-year-old Gaiton Sakebow is scheduled for March 22 in Spiritwood circuit court.

The RCMP Critical Incident Response Team and Spiritwood RCMP arrested Sakebow at a Pelican Lake First Nation home Feb. 16. He was charged with possession of a weapon for a dangerous purpose, possession of a firearm/prohibited weapon knowing its possession was unauthorized, pointing a firearm, three counts of failing to comply with a probation order, three counts of failing to comply with a release order, and resisting/obstructing a peace officer.

At the time of Sakebow’s arrest, he was wanted on six other arrest warrants issued by Spiritwood RCMP, Big River RCMP, and Prince Albert Police Service.

The charges against Sakebow haven't been proven in court.
