Trial set for man facing drug trafficking, weapons, assault charges

A trial has been set for 39-year-old Cody Caron who faces drug trafficking, weapons and violence-related charges

NORTH BATTLEFORD – A trial has been set for a 39-year-old man facing drug trafficking, weapons and violence-related charges.

Cody Caron’s trial is scheduled for June 14 in North Battleford Provincial Court. He is charged with assault with a weapon, assault, threats to cause death or bodily harm, assault of a peace officer, obstruction of a peace officer, possession for the purpose of trafficking, possession of a controlled substance, possession of property obtained by crime, and four counts of failing to appear in court.

Some of the charges stem from Saskatoon incidents.

The charges against Caron haven’t been proven in court.

In March 2021, Caron was the subject of an RCMP public alert when he was wanted by the police on outstanding warrants. He was arrested and then released on bail in May 2021. He was re-arrested, and has been released on bail again following a show cause hearing March 11.

In Caron’s most recent charges, Battlefords RCMP say they were called to a business on Railway Avenue in North Battleford on the morning of Jan. 14, 2021, following a report that a customer had brought in a box of parts that contained hundreds of hydromorphone pills. Caron was located and arrested. Police say he had suspected LSD, methamphetamine and crack cocaine in his possession.
