HUMBOLDT — A program that rewards youth for doing the right thing has returned.
Safe Communities Humboldt and Area's positive ticketing campaign will run from May 15 to Oct. 15.
"Through Safe Communities Humboldt and Area’s Positive Ticketing Campaign, our local emergency service organizations will look for people in Humboldt and area who are making safe choices," the safety organization said. "When emergency service members see someone take a safe action, they may give them a positive ticket – a special coupon for items such as a leisure pass, mini golf pass, free slushy, fleece blanket, water bottle, pop sockets, heat pencils, sunglasses and more."
Behaviour that could result in a postive ticket includes wearing helmets while skateboarding, riding bicycles or scooters; crossing the street at marked crosswalks; displaying inclusive behaviour; wearing masks; or helping someone else be safe.
All tickets redeemed for a mini prize, which are provided by local organziations and businesess, will be entered for the grand prize draw that will take place in late October.
