HUMBOLDT — An upcoming summer event is not returning to old traditions.
The Canada Day fireworks in Humboldt will remain at Centennial Park and the area around the Uniplex instead of moving back to Water Ridge Park.
Humboldt council voted to close Fifth Avenue from 17th Street to Peck Road from 8:30 p.m. to 11 p.m. on July 1 at their April 25 meeting so that the fireworks could happen.
“I know Water Ridge is a very nice place to do the fireworks but as far as organization and parking goes, I love this area because it's easy to get in and easy to get out,” said Coun. Amanda Klitch during the meeting.
In a report to council, city staff said they received an “overwhelming positive response” to keeping the fireworks at Centennial Park.
