SASKATOON - At 2:49 p.m. the Saskatoon Fire Communications Centre received a call of a structure fire. Three fire engines, one ladder truck, one heavy rescue unit and the Battalion Chief responded to the fire.
First fire engine arrived at 2:53 pm. Fire officer reported smoke showing from a structure in the 100 block of Avenue E Â鶹ÊÓƵ and began issuing tactical assignments to incoming fire trucks.
The hydrant was hooked up to the fire truck and entry to the structure was made by firefighters. Heavy heat was encountered in the basement.
Utilities were shut off to the structure by fire crews. SaskEnergy and Saskatoon Light & Power responded to the scene to disconnect utility services to provide additional scene safety for firefighters and the public.
Fire crews had the seat of the fire knocked down at 3:25 p.m.
The fire investigator was dispatched and arrived on the scene at 3:38 p.m. This structure is being ventilated at this time.
A cause and origin fire investigation will occur once the scene is turned over by the fire crews.
