PINEHOUSE - RCMP have arrested two people after they were observed to switch places behind the wheel. The vehicle also contained a weapon and three children were aboard.
On Sept. 16, at approximately 6:30 p.m., Pinehouse RCMP received a complaint from a member of the public that a person wanted on several warrants was driving in the town of Pinehouse.
Officers located the vehicle and stopped it. As they approached the vehicle, they observed the driver switch seats with the front seat passenger.
Investigation revealed that both the driver and the passenger were intoxicated. A firearm was also located in the vehicle. Three young children were in the back of the vehicle.
Both the driver and passenger were arrested.
The passenger of the vehicle, a 42-year-old female from Prince Albert, has been charged with:
- 1 count, refusing to provide a breath sample, Section 320.15 of the Criminal Code
- 1 count, child endangerment, Section 218, Criminal Code
- 3 counts, resist/obstruct a police officer, Section 129(a), Criminal Code
She will appear in court in Pinehouse on Nov. 10.
The driver, a 45-year-old male from Prince Albert, has been charged with:
- 1 count, refusing to provide a breath sample, Section 320.15 of the Criminal Code
- 1 count, child endangerment, Section 218, Criminal Code
- 3 counts, resist/obstruct a police officer, Section 129(a), Criminal Code
- 4 counts, driving while disqualified, Section 320.18, Criminal Code
- 1 count, fail to comply with release order, Section 145(5), Criminal Code
- 1 count, fail to comply with probation order, Section 733.1, Criminal Code
- 1 count, unauthorized possession of a firearm, Section 91(3), Criminal Code
The male also was arrested on warrants from multiple Saskatchewan RCMP detachments. He appeared in court on September 17 and was remanded in custody until Sept, 20.
