HUMBOLDT — Muenster School is hosting a Youth Mental Wellness Summit.
Muenster School’s HEADSTRONG Team is expecting 145 students from 20 schools to participate in the May 11 event.
“Mental health is so important and initiatives like this are key to breaking down the stigma around asking for help,” said Kevin Garinger, Horizon School Division’s Director of Education. “Congratulations to Munster’s HEADSTRONG team for championing mental wellness in our schools.”
The Grade 7 to 12 teams have a focus on resilience, recovery, positive social action, and raising awareness about mental health and wellness. HEADSTRONG’s summits and youth-led school clubs are designed to encourage continual change and are supported by the Mental Health Commission of Canada team.
The Muenster School HEADSTRONG Team was formed in 2020 after students attended another Horizon-hosted summit at Bruno School. Since then, the team and awareness around mental health initiatives has continued to grow and gain support in Muenster.
