MELFORT – A man charged with drug trafficking and weapons offences wants a trial by judge alone.
A five-day trial for 26-year-old Ross Holmes from Moose Range is scheduled to start Nov. 28. A pretrial conference will be held Oct. 17.
Nipawin RCMP arrested Holmes during a traffic stop on July 3, 2021. During the traffic stop, police say they noticed shotgun shells in the center console of the vehicle. They seized a modified firearm, two firearms, which had suppressors, multiple loaded magazines and rounds of ammunition. They also seized 106 grams of suspected methamphetamine, 12 grams of suspected fentanyl and drug-related paraphernalia.
Holmes was charged with possession of methamphetamine for the purpose of trafficking, possession of fentanyl for the purpose of trafficking, four counts of possession of a restricted/prohibited firearm without a license, and 10 more firearms related offences.
The charges against Holmes haven’t been proven in court.
