Man accused of fake report that dispatched STARS, ambulances, and RCMP gets bail

Man charged with falsely reporting a two-vehicle collision involving multiple casualties with two deceased

PRINCE ALBERT – A 21-year-old man accused of reporting a two-vehicle collision involving multiple casualties with two deceased individuals has been released on bail.

Tyler Sanderson appeared in Prince Albert Provincial Court and is now scheduled to appear in Ahtahkakoop Circuit Court Nov. 8 on charges of public mischief and obstruction of a police officer.

According to Ahtahkakoop RCMP, they received a report from Sanderson at about 1 a.m. on Sept. 25 that there was a collision on Mistawasis First Nation. He allegedly claimed there were multiple casualties and two deceased individuals.

Emergency responders, including Ahtahkakoop and Blaine Lake RCMP Detachments, EMS, STARS air ambulance and local residents conducted extensive patrols to locate the collision scene and help the victims.  When emergency responders, however, weren’t able to find the scene, RCMP officers determined they could be dealing with a false report and investigated the report of the collision.

Mistawasis First Nation is in Leask and is about sixty-eight kilometres west of Prince Albert.
