The Saskatchewan Health Authority (SHA) is alerting the public of an increased risk of COVID-19 variants of concern in Saskatoon.

The SHA is also advising residents there increased risk of exposure to COVID-19 variants of concern at the following location where a person or persons attended while infectious:

Sports on Tap, 2606 Lorne Avenue:

6:00 p.m. – 10:00 p.m. April 5

11:25 a.m. – 5:25 p.m. April 9

11:45 a.m. – 4:30 p.m. April 10

Individuals who were atÌýthis location duringÌýthe specifiedÌýtimesÌýmust immediatelyÌýself-isolate for 14 days following the date of exposure. Call HealthLine 811, your physician or nurse practitionerÌýif you develop symptoms;ÌýyouÌýmay develop symptomsÌýfrom two toÌý14 days following exposure to the virus that causes COVID-19. It is recommended you seek testing immediately and 10 days after your exposure, even if you never develop symptoms.Ìý

Variants of concern are dangerous; they are highly contagious, transmitting more quickly and to more people within the community. The increased spread of COVID-19 and its variants result in more illness, hospitalizations and deaths. Many of those falling ill are much younger than previously seen during the pandemic.Ìý

COVID-19 and its variants are transmitted through coughing and sneezing (droplet transmission), and by touching surfaces with the virus on it and then touching your mouth, nose or eyes before washing your hands.

Memorize and recognize the symptoms of COVID-19 and its variants:Ìýfever, cough, headache, muscle and/or joint aches and pains, sore throat, chills, runny nose, nasal congestion, conjunctivitis, dizziness, fatigue, nausea/vomiting, diarrhea, loss of appetite (difficulty feeding for children), loss of sense of taste or smell, shortness of breath, difficulty breathing. Stay home and arrange for immediate testing if you have any mild symptoms or develop only one or two symptoms.ÌýÌý
