SASKATCHEWAN – The body of missing five-year-old Frank Young has been found in the river on Red Earth Cree Nation, say RCMP.
Carrot River RCMP say that on Saturday, at approximately 7:06 p.m., they received a report that Frank had been located deceased in the river near the area he was originally reported missing from on April 19. Frank’s family has been notified.
RCMP say there is no indication of suspicious circumstances, but as he was just located, further investigative steps will be taken, including working in partnership with the Saskatchewan Coroner’s Service. An autopsy will take place.
“This is not how anyone wanted the search for Frank to end. Our deepest condolences are with Frank’s family, loved ones, and community who have been greatly impacted by this tragedy,” said Sgt. Richard Tonge, Carrot River RCMP Detachment Commander. “We would like to thank everyone within the community and beyond, who assisted in the search for Frank.”
Frank Young went missing on Red Earth Cree Nation April 19 and was last seen around 12:30 p.m. at a playground near his home.
The search for the missing boy included extensive ground, air and boat searches.
In June, the RCMP suspended their aerial and boat searches.
