RED EARTH CREE NATION — The search for five-year-old Frank Young continues in the Red Earth Cree Nation area and the weather is cause for concern.
Members from Saskatchewan RCMP’s Carrot River Detachment, Police Dog Services and Search and Rescue, as well as volunteers from Prince Albert Grand Council Search and Rescue, Search and Rescue Saskatchewan Association of Volunteers and the local community are assisting.
An RCMP plane with a thermal camera will perform an aerial search of the area later today.
Weather conditions – including cold temperatures, snow and wind – continue to be a concern for police and searchers.
“It’s cold and snowy and this is a very young child, so we are very concerned. The Saskatchewan RCMP and partner agencies, together with the local community, continue to tirelessly search for Frank,” says Sgt. Richard Tonge of the Carrot River RCMP. “We are searching in the community, where Frank was last seen yesterday, including a large rural area outside of the community, which includes heavily treed areas as well as bodies of water. Efforts include using everything from all-terrain vehicles and boats to thermal imaging, on-foot grid searches and more.”
Door to door inquiries at residences continue to be conducted and Frank has not been located.
Investigation to date does not indicate an abduction has occurred and the criteria for an Amber Alert have not been met.
Frank Young is described as four feet tall, approximately 66 pounds, black hair and brown eyes. He was last seen wearing rubber boots, green pyjamas, and a navy blue jacket.
Frank Young was last seen wearing Paw Patrol rubber boots, green pyjamas with dinosaurs on them and a navy blue windbreaker-style jacket.
Frank was last seen on April 19 at approximately 12:30 p.m., at his residence on Red Earth Cree Nation and was possibly seen at the local playground around 3:30 p.m.
