Extremely icy roads sends Jeep rolling

Terrible road conditions led to a number of vehicles heading into the ditch between Humboldt and Muenster on January 6, but only one required a response from Humboldt's emergency services.
At about 4:30 p.m. on January 6, emergency crews were called to a single vehicle rollover about eight kilometres east of Humboldt on Hwy. 5.
According to RCMP Const. Jeremy Jaquet, the male driver of a westbound older Jeep pick-up truck lost control of his vehicle and rolled once into the ditch on the north side of the road.
The truck landed on its driver's side door, so crews from Humboldt and District Ambulance Service and the Humboldt Fire Department had to perform a tricky extrication to get the driver and lone occupant of the vehicle out.
The windshield was removed and the roof cut and peeled back in order to allow crews to get to the patient and remove him.
Deep snow and extremely slippery conditions on the road made the extrication even more difficult, crews reported.
The driver was transported to the Humboldt District Hospital with non-lifethreatening injuries.
The cause of the crash is being attributed to the icy and snow-covered road conditions at the time.
The road was closed for a short time while crews dealt with the crash and RCMP are asking that motorists be patient when such a thing occurs.
"Our main priority is the safety of the people involved (in a collision)," said Jaquet, including the emergency responders who are trying to help the victims.
"Getting traffic moving through the scene is not a priority," he noted, adding that emergency crews would appreciate the understanding and patience of the general public when they are dealing with the aftermath of a collision.
Emergency crews were called to the scene of another single vehicle rollover at 7:30 p.m. on January 8.
A vehicle had rolled at a point east of Humboldt on Hwy. 5, yet again.
Humboldt and District Ambulance Service attended the scene, where they assessed and treated two patients, then transported them to Humboldt District Hospital with minor injuries.
The Humboldt Fire Department was also at the scene, but no extrication was needed.
