Linda's Lines: Cast all your cares upon Him
Hands in Prayer
Controversy divides us. Scripture binds us.

Remember when the flu was the big deal? Although I'd always made it a habit to get my "shot," the 1992 injection stands out for me. I'd recently undergone cancer surgery and I felt so relieved to know that I was probably protected against that hurdle. And, thank God, I was. While at the time, that was a huge hurdle to overcome, how were we to know about something called COVID? Or COVID Delta? or COVID Omicron?

I refuse to delve into the controversy surrounding this disease and especially, "the vaccination" but looking back, the flu shot hardly raised an eyebrow compared to now. This time not only eyebrows but tempers, political reactions, broken relationships and all sorts of other things scream for our attention. As much as I don't want to think about it, I can't help but wonder, "what's next?"

Several weeks ago I decided to lay my crossword puzzle book aside for a few hours; I then pulled a book from our decades-old collection titled "Approaching Hoofbeats." Written in 1985 by Billy Graham (told you it was an "oldie") Graham penned a commentary on the Biblical book of Revelation. This book documents terrible things prophesied to occur just prior to the second coming of Christ (for many, another subject as controversial as my earlier list). It's as if he foresaw everything happening now and even more to come.

I work hard each week to make these article uplifting but this week it was difficult, until I claimed a scripture written by the Apostle Paul as he sat in prison, awaiting his death.

"Casting all your cares [all your anxieties, all your worries, and all your concerns, once and for all] on Him, for He cares about you [with deepest affection, and watches over you very carefully]." 1 Peter 5:7
