MELFORT – The Melfort Fire Department is holding a fire fighter recruitment drive.
The current fire department has 20 firefighters. They are looking to fill five spots, according to Leonard Whitney, Fire Chief for the City of Melfort.
Whitney said that they meet for practice for two hours once a week. Most firefighters would experience three stand-by weekends in the summer, plus calls that they are able to attend. Whitney said a firefighter is required to live in city limits.

The Melfort Fire Department’s mission is to prevent the loss of life and minimize damage to property resulting from fires, environmental and other disasters. Whitney encourages all residents to consider applying to be on the Melfort Fire Department's team.
