Albert Headrick appointed as new CAO in Lanigan

Headrick has extensive senior management experience in municipal government. For over 25 years, he has served in various communities throughout Ontario, Saskatchewan, Alberta, Nunavut and the Northwest Territories.

LANIGAN — The Town of Lanigan recently hired Albert Headrick as their chief administrative officer.

His first day was Oct. 24.

“I have spent over 10 years in Saskatchewan. It is a great province and had the opportunity to apply and be the successful candidate,” Headrick said. “I have been a CAO in Alberta and Ontario and having the opportunity to work as CAO in Lanigan, Sask. is an educational opportunity to prone personal skill sets but also utilize my experience and exposure to move the community forward.”

Lanigan has a population of 1,433 and is about an hour southeast of Saskatoon. Lanigan is currently building a new K to Grade 12 school and employs seven fulltime staff and one contract employee as well as 10-12 summer students. BHP has also just announced that phase 2 of the mine expansion near LeRoy has been approved. Lanigan has seen rapid growth in its economy in the last several years.

“My son and family live only six hours away and I have relatives in Saskatchewan,” Headrick said. “Lanigan is a great community with enormous growth potential.”

Headrick has extensive senior management experience in municipal government. For over 25 years, he has served in various communities throughout Ontario, Saskatchewan, Alberta, Nunavut and the Northwest Territories. His positions have included fire chief, deputy chief, director of community and protective services and CAO in Alberta and Ontario.

“My goal is to continue the development of partnerships throughout the Town of Lanigan, bringing together the community through collaboration and achievement,” said Headrick.

The press release from the town stated he has created strong partnerships between the First Nation communities in which he works, along with service sectors and partnering agencies. With a drive toward achieving the short and long term strategic goals of a community, the town’s release said Headrick is a progressive leader who strives for excellence to help move communities toward sustainability.

“Mr Headrick has a proven track record of quality leadership and we are very excited to have him join our ranks,” said Mayor Tony Mycock. “With his knowledge, experience and dedication toward the betterment of communities, we know he will help us achieve our future goals.”

Educated though Lakeland College with an applied business degree, Headrick believes in continued education and development, having post-graduate designation in business, municipal and public administration, accredited municipal clerk treasurer, certified municipal manager, and advanced certificates in municipal law, torts, human resources, accounting/finance, planning, public safety and protective service, fire training and municipal management.

The CAO is the most senior member of the staff for the Town of Lanigan. The CAO reports directly to the council and will work to implement council’s direction and initiatives while providing organizational and operational services for the town.
