Mrs. Florence May Vetterl, 80 years of Watson and formerly of Spalding passed away on Monday, July 5, 2010 at Humboldt District Hospital. Florence was born on December 3, 1929 to John & Emma (nee Johnson) Vetterl at the homestead east of Spalding. Florence led a good life to the age of 80. She grew up in the Spalding area where her parents farmed and she attended school at the Lake Edward School. Florence worked at Wilber's Café in Spalding and had always wanted to open her own restaurant as she was an excellent cook and baker. She worked for Charlotte Glover as a nanny for several years; she also worked at the Red & White Store in Spalding for Joe & Edna Hutchinson. Florence and her late husband, William owned the butcher shop in Spalding for several years until they sold it. She worked at the Spalding Co-op until her retirement due to her health. Florence was a member of the Spalding Willing Workers, Dovre Lutheran Ladies, White Dove, Senior Citizens and also served on the Spalding Homecoming Committee. She loved her flowers, garden, playing cards, and visiting with family and friends, until her health wouldn't allow her to get out as much. The tea kettle or coffee pot was always on and dainties put out when company came to visit. She was a very caring and giving person. She always worried about her family no matter what age they got to be. She was known to her grandchildren for her buns, cinnamon buns and cookies. She spent her entire life in Spalding until Florence and Willie sold their home in October, 2008 and moved to Watson where they resided until present. She will be remembered and cherished forever by everyone. We will never forget you Mom!
