Irene Marie Philomene Perron was born on the family farm near Kelvington on August 23, 1930, to Omer and Cecile Perron.
She worked out at various places before finding her husband-to-be. She married Mike Salikin and began her life on the family farm two miles north of Kuroki. She was blessed with three children, Andy, Linda and Brenda.In 2000, she and Mike moved into Humboldt and lived at East Side Village so that they could be closer to family. In May 2007, Irene because a resident of St. Mary's Villa.
Irene was predeceased by her parents, Omer and Cecle Perron; husband Mike Salikin; daughter Brenda Salikin; son Andrew Peterson and brother Norman Perron.
She leaves to mourn her daughter Linda Salikin-Dufault (Rob Dufault); grandchildren, Samantha Salikin, Russe Salikin, Jesse Salikin, Ashley Salikin-Dufault, Darren Dufault, all of Humboldt, Sask., granddaughter Jordyn Fox (parents Jim and Gaylynn Fox); bothers, Henry (Hulda) Perron and Jerome (Geraldine) Perron; many nieces, nephews and other member of the Salikin family.
Memorial service was held on Tuesday, June 1, 2010 at 2:00 p.m. at the chapel of Tompkins Funeral Home in Wadena, Sask., with terry Tompkins officiating. Organist was Myrna Hart; memorial book attendant was Irene's grandson, Darren Dufault; urn-bearer, granddaughter Ashley Salikin-Dufault. Honourary pallbearers were Irene's grandchildren, Samantha Salikin, Ashley Salikin-Dufault, Russel Salikin, Darren Dufault, Jesse Salikin and Jordyn Fox.Interment was at Kylemore Cemetery, with Tompkins Funeral Home in care of the arrangements. Thank YouWe, the family of Irene Salikin, would like to thank Dr. Vakeesan and all the Villa staff for giving mom great care the last three years.
