LOON LAKE - A burnt-out headlight led an officer to seizing 30 grams of methamphetamine in the Loon Lake area.
On April 4 at approximately 10:30 p.m., RCMP officers with Meadow Lake Combined Traffic Services Saskatchewan were conducting proactive patrols in the Loon Lake area.
An officer observed a vehicle with a burnt-out headlight, activated their emergency lights and conducted a traffic stop.
When the officer approached the vehicle, they observed signs that the driver was intoxicated. They also observed that a passenger had an open container of alcohol, and saw a baggie of what appeared to be illicit drugs in plain sight in the vehicle.
Further investigation determined the substance in the bag was 30 grams of methamphetamine.
The three occupants of the vehicle were arrested.
A 38-year-old woman, from Loon Lake, and 48-year-old man, from Makwa Sahgaiehcan First Nation, are each charged with one count, possession for the purpose of trafficking.
- one count, operation of a conveyance while impaired; and
- one count, operation of a conveyance with a blood alcohol concentration exceeding 80 mg per 100 ml of blood.
