WATERHEN LAKE FIRST NATION - The victim of a shooting in a home on Waterhen Lake First Nation on Feb. 8 has now passed away and the charges of the accused in the case have been adjusted accordingly.
Police say 29-year-old Antoine Hamm from Waterhen Lake First Nation passed away in hospital Feb. 15.
As a result, on Feb. 16, Logan Lapratt was charged with: one count of second-degree murder and Derek Lasas was charged with one count, manslaughter with a firearm. Both men are 42 years old and come from the Waterhen Lake First Nation. They were arrested on Waterhen Lake First Nation without incident on Feb. 8.
Saskatchewan RCMP Major Crimes, Meadow Lake RCMP, Saskatchewan RCMP’s General Investigation Section and Forensic Identification Services have been investigating.
At the time of their arrest, prior to the death of Antoine Hamm, Lapratt had been charged with attempted murder, aggravated assault and discharge of firearm with intent. Lasas had been charged with aggravated assault and possession of a firearm in a motor vehicle.
