Woman charged in fatal 2022 Ring Road collision

Police are providing an update on an investigation into last year’s Ring Road collision.

REGINA - Regina Police report a 19 year-old female has been charged in connection to a fatal collision that happened last year.

The woman is charged with Dangerous Operation of a Conveyance Causing Death and made her first appearance on these charges in Provincial Court on Oct. 12.

According to Regina Police, on Novl 2, 2022 at around 1:18 p.m., police were dispatched to Ring Road between Wascana Parkway and Albert St. on a report of a collision. When they arrived, they found people attending to a female lying on the ground, who appeared to be the driver of a white Ford car at the scene, with a black Ford truck was in the ditch. The male driver of the truck was pronounced deceased by EMS; his name will not be released by the Regina Police Service. The female driver of the car was transported to hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.

Collision reconstructionists from the RPS Traffic Safety Unit and members of the  Patrol officers, EMS and Regina Fire and Protective Services at the scene and were joined by the Forensic Identification Unit. The investigation determined that driver of the white Ford car was travelling southbound on Ring Road. According to the police investigation the vehicle entered the center ditch and continued into the northbound lane into oncoming traffic, and collided with the Ford truck which was travelling northbound.
