SASKATOON - A Calgary youth is facing numerous charges after evading police in Saskatoon.

At approximately 2:10 a.m. on Aug. 26 police noticed a vehicle fail to obey a stop sign while turning onto 20th Street. Officers attempted a traffic stop on the vehicle; however, the driver fled at a high rate of speed travelling westbound on 20th Street.

The vehicle continued driving in this direction before colliding with a chain-link fence. At that time, the driver exited the vehicle and began to flee on foot.

The Air Support Unit (ASU) was notified and located the suspect in a backyard in the 300 block of Vancouver Avenue Â鶹ÊÓƵ.

A K-9 track was conducted and led officers to the same location ASU identified. At this time, the suspect was located and arrested without incident. After searching the vehicle, officers located cocaine, crack cocaine, and oxycodone.

As a result, a 17-year-old male youth is facing charges relating to evading police, dangerous driving, possession of a controlled substance for the purpose of trafficking, and failure to comply with court-ordered conditions.
