LA RONGE – A trial has been set for Nov. 1 in La Ronge Provincial court for two men facing drug trafficking charges – one who was wanted on a Canada-wide arrest warrant for violating his parole on a manslaughter charge.
Joch Pouk, 30, from Calgary, and Sheldon Primeau, 30, from La Ronge, were arrested after a traffic stop on Sept. 20, 2023 by La Ronge RCMP.
During the police investigation, officers seized about 194 grams of cocaine, drug paraphernalia and a large sum of cash.
Pouk and Primeau were charged with possession for the purpose of trafficking and possession of the proceeds of crime. Primeau was additionally charged with failing to comply with a recognizance.
Pouk was wanted out of Calgary, Alta., for violating his parole.
In April 2022, Calgary Police Service had posted the warrant for Pouk on social media. He was out on parole after being convicted of manslaughter in the 2013 death of Lukas Strasser-Hird. Pouk was one of several men who swarmed Strasser-Hird at a Calgary night club, beating and stabbing him to death. Three other men were convicted.
