Stolen auto investigation leads to three arrests

Police find backpack full of drugs, multiple charges laid.

REGINA – What began as an investigation into a stolen vehicle turned into police making three arrests and laying a pile of charges. On Dec. 30, police spotted a stolen vehicle in the 600 block of Grey Street.

“Two suspect males were seen walking away from the vehicle,” said RPS. “Police arrested one of the males without incident, and the other fled from police on foot.”

The second man was found in the 600 block of Empress Street, and while being taken into custody, police discovered a backpack containing fentanyl, methamphetamine, cocaine and other items associated with drug trafficking. Through further investigation, a third individual was also arrested.

All three men arrested were from Regina, and have been charged as follows:

Brett Joseph Hochban, 38, three counts of possession of a scheduled substance for the purpose of trafficking; and single charges of possession of property obtained by crime over $5,000, operation of a conveyance with a probation order, and failure to comply with a probation order.

Nathan William Thompson, 38, single counts of possession of a weapon; and carrying a concealed weapon.

Shawn William Wilton, 39, possession of property obtained by crime over $5,000.

All three were slated to make court appearances on these charges on Jan. 3.
