Update: Police disrupt forcible confinement, three charged

There are traffic restrictions near Whitney Ave. N. and Rusholme Rd.

A 38-year-old man, a 20-year-old man a 13-year-old girl have been arrested.

SASKATOON - Update 4, March 29 - The Saskatoon Police Service Interpersonal Violence Section has charged three people, including a teen, in relation to a sexual assault that occurred in the 300 block of Witney Avenue North.

Police say investigation has found that sometime after 11:30 p.m., on March 27, the victim, a 21-year-old woman, was unlawfully confined, assaulted and sexually assaulted. At approximately 9:30 a.m., on March 28, police were able to safely remove the victim from the area. She was transported to hospital with what are believed to be minor injuries, and for further assessment.

As a result of enforcement action at the residence on March 28, 2023; a 33-year-old man was arrested and is charged with sexual assault, assault, unlawful confinement and uttering threats. A 20-year-old man was arrested and faces charges of assault and unlawful confinement. A 13-year-old girl was also arrested, and is charged with unlawful confinement.

Update 3, March 28 - Saskatoon police say they have two people in custody. Police say that they had received a call that a person may have been forcibly confined at a home in the 300 block of Whitney Ave. N.

When police arrived they weren't able to to gain access to the home or make contact with anyone inside. The SPS Tactical Support Unit, Crisis Negotiation Unit and Canine Unit assisted patrol officers and took two people into custody. 

Police have now cleared the scene. 

Update 2: Saskatoon police say they will remain at the scene in the area of Witney Avenue N. and Rusholme Rd. Traffic restrictions are expected to remain in effect into the evening hours and the public is advised to find an alternate route through the area. 

Update: Saskatoon police say they have cordoned off Whitney Ave. N. and Rusholme Rd. and the SPS Tactical Support Unit has contained a home. Police continue to ask the general area to avoid the area.

SPS tweeted shortly after 10 a.m. saying there are traffic restrictions near Whitney Ave. N. and Rusholme Rd. They have asked residents to avoid the area.
