Saskatoon couple attacked while exiting bus

Victims are in hospital with serious but non life-threatening injuries; police say.

SASKATOON – An assault on two people involving a meat cleaver have left the pair in hospital with serious injuries.

Around 6:30 p.m.on Jan. 3, police were called to the 1100 block of Idylwyld Drive North on a weapons complaint.

“Upon arrival, police found two victims who had been maced and stabbed,” said SPS in a media release. “It was reported to officers that several suspects were shouting at the victims, as they got off a bus.”

The pair - a 36 year old woman and 45 year old man - were then attacked with bear spray and a meat cleaver. Suspects involved in the attack fled on foot, and police are asking anyone with information on this incident to call SPS at (306) 975-8300 or Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-8477 (TIPS).

While the couple is in hospital, their injuries are not thought to be life-threatening.
