Inmate assaulted at Sask. Pen., transported to outside hospital

The assault occurred in the maximum-security unit at Saskatchewan Penitentiary on Thursday.

Correctional Service of Canada say they will review the circumstances of the assault.

PRINCE ALBERT – An inmate was sent to an outside hospital for treatment after being assaulted in the maximum-security unit at Saskatchewan Penitentiary on Oct. 19.

Correctional Service of Canada (CSC) said that the Prince Albert detachment of the RCMP, and the institution, are currently investigating the incident. They say the assailant has been identified and appropriate actions have been taken, but didn’t specify what were those actions.

No staff members or other inmates were injured during this incident.

CSC said they will review the circumstances of the assault and take the appropriate measures.
