April was a very busy month for the Calder Yalenka Dance Club. The club went to a few competitions and in between we had our Spring Concert. The Community Hall was full of families, friends and community members and surrounding area.

The season openers for the Yorkton Cardinals had been scheduled for this past Sunday but were cancelled and re-scheduled for last night at Jubilee Park. Results of the games were not available in time for press.

The powwow is important to First Nations people and Shanon Crook, the Aboriginal Community Worker at Dr. Brass School is trying to help students connect with that aspect of their culture.

The Boston Pizza Yorkton Regional High School Female Student of the Month for March is Mary Prybylski. Mary is a grade 12 student at the Yorkton Regional High School. She is currently the female S.R.C.

The Yorkton Junior Bulldogs gave those in attendance a really good showing in the third period of their 2010 season opener of the Prairie Gold Lacrosse League home opener when the usually-powerful Moose Jaw Mustangs came to down Saturday.

The Gloria Hayden Community Centre's spring and summer hours of operation (May 17-Sept. 6) are Monday-Friday 8:30 a.m.-12 noon, and 1 p.m.-4:30 p.m. Closed on weekends and statutory holidays.

The film which created the big buzz at this year's Yorkton Film Festival was clearly Silent Bombs: All For The Motherland.

The Yorkton Film Festival is North America's longest-running film festival, and that is something the organizers can be proud of. However, the existence of the festival in the city has never generated a local film making buzz.

Yorkton Council has rejected a bylaw which would have seen the levy assessed businesses in the Yorkton Business Improvement District changed. The YBID had appeared before Council April 26, requesting a change.
