YORKTON – Loki's Brood, the local viking age re-enactment group, showcased combat and crafting for Culture Days 2024 outside the Godfrey Dean Art Gallery Sept. 21.
"This is our first year for Culture Days so this is new for us," said Alanna Lindal, Organizer for the event, in an interview with Â鶹ÊÓƵ.ca.
Lindal said the group of about 20 members were displaying a "living history" of everyday skills from the Viking, Saxon, Norman, Celtic and Scandinavian cultures.
"You shouldn't see anything modern — everything should be from about [the year] 1000," said Lindal of the display.
Lindal said members were on hand to teach the public different skills from the era, including armouring chainmail and fletching arrows for combat as well as hand spinning, naalbinding and viking wireweaving.
Lindal said anyone interested in joining the group can visit their for more information.
