A special dramatic reading of Charles Dickens' A Christmas Carol was brought to life November 29 when readers took on the challenge at a program called The Dickens鈥� Night at the Preeceville Trinity United Church.

The fourth annual festival of trees encouraged individuals to take the time to appreciate what鈥檚 special during the busy Christmas season, said Amanda Balyski, an organizer.

Members of the Lintlaw Fire Department expanded their knowledge in firefighting December 1, 2 and 3 when they attended a three-day training session on search, rescue, forcible entry and rapid response.

The Sturgis branch of the Saskatchewan Wildlife Federation hosted its annual 鈥渉orn measuring event鈥� at the Sturgis Arena on December 8. The club members brought in 16 antlers and one bear skull to be scored.

The Preeceville Pats Atom hockey team brought home the B-side banner from the Canora home tournament which was played November 25 and 26. In the first game, Preeceville was defeated by Langenburg with a 16-2 loss.

The Etoimamie Valley Riders Club acknowledged its riders during the annual banquet and awards night at the READ Club in Sturgis on November 25.

The Preeceville Hospital Auxiliary Christmas auction, which was held at the Preeceville Club 60 on November 27,was deemed another success by organizers.
