SASKATOON — One hundred and seven province residents who made significant contributions to their respective communities and the lives of others have been awarded the Queen Elizabeth II Platinum Jubilee medals.
The Saskatchewan Association of Rehabilitation Centres asked its members for nominations to receive this prestigious award. A simple ceremony was held on Friday, 23 June, at the Imperial Ballroom at the Atlas Hotel in Regina.
SARC played a vital role in identifying the 107 recipients from the province who have been supporting the lives of others, particularly those who have made substantial contributions to the Disability Service Sector.
Gene Makowsky, the Minister of Social Services, commended the professionals working in the disability service for ensuring the safety, support, and inclusion of individuals within their respective communities, assisting clients in achieving their goals.
"They play a crucial role in nurturing communities where everyone belongs. I congratulate the recipients of the Queen's Platinum Jubilee Medal and express my gratitude for their incredible service to individuals and families across Saskatchewan," said Makowsky.
The recipients were selected across four categories: Leadership, Community Inclusion, Supported Employment, and Person-Centred Practice, recognizing their commitment to the Disability Service Sector.
SARC Executive Direct Amy McNeil congratulated the 107 recipients and expressed the organization's honour in assisting in the identification process and hosting the ceremony within the province.
"It is a wonderful opportunity to acknowledge numerous individuals for their exceptional contributions to the Disability Service Sector. Congratulations to all medal recipients" said McNeil.
