Well, I hope everyone had a wonderful Christmas. Hope everyone brought in the New Year with a bang! We can't complain about the weather, for the last few months it has been pretty good, but some people would like it to snow just a little more so the snow machines can put on some miles this year.

The Calder Seniors held their whist drive on Dec. 31, 2011. The winners were: 1st Arnold Balabuck, 2nd Marlene Balabuck, and 3rd Gordon Kahut. Low hand went to Donna Fusty. Pot of Gold winners were Mildred Danylko and Gordon Kahut.

Mildred Danylko had her family home for Christmas, Leanne, Greg, Kendra, Brooklyn, Cheryl and Perry Kitz, Dave, Erin and Toni Andrews, Garvin, Jessica Andrews, Ashley and her boyfriend Donavin of Brandon, her sister Corrine, Rod Curle and Tyler, and her mother Elsie Baumung of Roblin.

Crystal and Jeff Devin and family spent Christmas Eve at Evelyn Antony House.

It's nice to see Margie Mankish home after she spent Christmas out in Dryden, Ontario with her daughters, MaryAnn and Harold Price and family, Donna and granddaughter Ashley.

The Calder School students and teachers are back at school. The Calder School has a busy month planned for January. The Calder School Community Council will be hosting a bullying awareness session on bully prevention at the Calder School. There will be supper and all students and parents are encouraged to attend this important day at the Calder School. Calder School will be enjoying their annual ski trip to Asessippi Ski Hill at the end of January. Please remember to mark that on your calendars. The students will be getting a lot of fresh air, they will be doing some cross country skiing while the weather is nice.

On Jan. 15, 2012 there will be a pancake breakfast at the Calder Community Rink starting at 9 a.m. - 1 p.m., all proceeds will be going to CF. Come out and support this event.

The Calder Playschool Program is having a Valentine's raffle. Tickets are available from our play school parents and at the Calder Parkland Regional Library.

Congratulations to Adam and Ada Andres on the safe arrival of their son, Kale Ashton, a new little brother for Joel and Heidi.

Kathleen Antony and Dave Stupak travelled to Brandon to attend Dave's brothers wedding.
