The Calder Senior Centre has been busy for the last few weeks with their Whist Drives. The winners were: 1st Virginia Wandy, 2nd Murry Andrews, 3rd Donna Fustey and low Jim Fustey. Pot of Gold winners were Peter Wereschuk and Arnold Balabuk.
The winners of the Sept. 10 Whist Drive were: 1st Murry Andrews, and Elmer Eftoda, 3rd Peter Wereschuk and low Anna Fyck. Pot of Gold winners were Peter Wereschuk and Peter Swerhun.
Sept. 24 winners were: 1st Peter Wereschuk, 2nd Mildred Danylko, 3rd Arnold Balabuk and low Mary Sobkow. Pot of Gold winners were Margie Mankish and Peter Wereschuk.
Oct. 8 winners were: Jim Fustey, Gordon Kahut, Arnold Balabuk and low Marie Rohatensky. Pot of Gold went to Gordon Kahut and Peter Wereschuk.
Whitney Kahut of Calgary was out visiting with her father, Gordon Kahut, and family for a few weeks.
Get well wishes go to Mary Sobkow who is in Regina hospital.
Sympathy goes out to Lorraine Boehm and families on the recent passing of Danny Boehm. Lorraine had Danny's family out visiting after the funeral.
A big thank you to all the people who helped out with the Calder's Annual Fall Supper.
The Calder Playschool would like to thank everyone who donated bottles for their Bottle Drive.
The next fundraiser for the Calder Playschool will be a Pancake Breakfast, Bake Sale and Raffle on Nov. 13, 2011 at the Calder Community Hall. Everyone is welcome to attend.
The Calder Yalenka Dance Club has started up, on Tuesday nights at the Calder Community Hall. Anyone wishing to join can call Alexandra at 306-742-4737 or Michelle at 742-2023.
The Calder Karate Club started up in October. For more information phone Ron at 742-2050.
The Calder School has been busy too. The students have taken part in a few cross country meets.
On Fri., Oct. 7, 2011, the community, family and friends were asked to a Thanksgiving Dinner at the Calder School. The meal was supplied by the parents. The school had a great turn out.
Don and Joy Kohut are out from Calgary, visiting with family and friends. Don and Joy attended the memorial dinner for the late Peter Onfreychuk out at the family farm.
The Calder Seniors held their Invitational Whist Drive on Oct. 12, 2011 at the Good Neighbour Centre. The Pot of gold winners were Mae Brenner of Churchbridge, Virginia Wandy of Calder and the door prize winner was Jack Miller of Zorra.
The raffle prizes winners were: Bob Linton of Calder, Glen Yaroski of Calder, Ella Becker of Roblin, Marlene Mankish of Calder, Louise Yaroski of Calder.
Wayne Rohatensky and Diane Iwanchuk of Calgary were out to visit with Marie Rohatensky.
We, the community would like to welcome all the new people, who have moved into our community. Our next community event will be the Community Christmas Potluck supper that will be held on Dec. 11, 2011 at the Calder Community Hall. Each year the Calder Rec. Board buys the new family a Christmas ornament, to welcome them to our community.
We hope to see all the new families at the Community Potluck Supper.
