Work on Highways 9 and 10 near Yorkton

Yorkton Farmer鈥檚 Market is back at the Parkland Mall in the city. Brendon Purton with the farmer鈥檚 market explained the market has been going Thursdays for the last four weeks, operating from 11 a.m. to about 3:30 p.m.

Shelwin House in Yorkton has received a $5,000 donation from RBC to help it weather the challenges presented by the COVID-19 pandemic.

Monday afternoon a brief storm hit Yorkton, with heavy rain, hail and strong winds striking the city. Patrick Park, pictured, saw several trees down, and other parks and yards across the city saw many trees and branches knocked down by the storm.

Summer Fun in Yorkton

One of the groups most affected by the COVID-19 pandemic are seniors. They are more at risk due to the virus, but are also more likely to suffer from isolation due to the restrictions surrounding the virus.

There are five new cases of COVID-19 to report in Saskatchewan on July 14, bringing the total to 876 cases. Three of the new cases are in the Central region, one in the Saskatoon region and one in the Regina region.

The Ministry of Corrections and Policing is providing $330,000 to the City of Yorkton for policing initiatives. The funding is being provided through the Municipal Police Grants program for three existing Yorkton RCMP positions in 2020-21.

It was just the sort of day local storm hunter Ryan Crouse dreams of. On Sunday, (July 12), there was a warning of tornadoes and a storm between Yorkton and Melville, and he went looking.

With COVID-19 restrictions easing people are getting out and having some summer fun. Friday, Yorkton鈥檚 Darcy Zaharia took the family to visit the petting zoo at Canora Beach on Good Spirit Lake.
