INVERMAY SCHOOL NEWS: December was an exciting month

Dec. 20 was a busy day for Invermay School with the annual elementary Christmas concert, followed by the Invermay School Christmas dinner hosted by the Invermay School staff.

INVERMAY - December was a jam-packed month in Invermay School! The students and staff were very busy getting ready for the holiday season and wrapping things up before Christmas break.

We took the time to celebrate our bus drivers at Invermay School! They go beyond just providing transportation. They greet students daily, provide a safe and caring environment, and dependable service to families. Thank your bus driver but remember to appreciate them all year long. Thank you to Cheryl Knight, Kailey Sabiston, Glenda Kozak, Floyd Hendrickson and Bud Johns.

Congratulations to our Legion Poster and Literary contest winners!

The SRC hosted Spirit Week from Dec. 16 - 20. The theme days included: ugly Christmas sweater day, candy cane (red/white, striped) day, Santa vs. Grinch day, night before Christmas (pajama day), and Christmas party attire (formal day). Everyone looked fabulous in all their Christmas themed attire!

The SRC also planned daily fun activities for all students. The activities included pin the tail on the reindeer, Christmas bingo, and dodgeball. As well as, a movie afternoon was planned for Dec. 19, which was a reward to the students for reaching an incentive during our Mom’s Pantry Fundraiser.

On Dec. 18, The Red Cross Group headed to the Invermay Health Centre to present all the residents with Christmas cards and stained glass art.

Four-time Provincial athlete and medal winner Aron Cudal stopped at Invermay School on Dec. 19 to receive his SHSAA Provincial Track and Field banner. In June 2024, Aron won a silver medal in senior boys long jump and a gold medal in javelin. Way to go Aron!

Dec. 20 was a busy day for Invermay School with the annual elementary Christmas concert. Kindergarten to Grade 5 students presented The Elves Impersonator, directed by Miss Lozinski and Miss Robin. The Elves’ Impersonator is about Santa’s Workshop at the North Pole being abuzz with excitement and activity. The Elves are busily preparing toys and gifts for children all around the world, but their tasks aren’t enough to keep them from gossiping about the new elf on the block. The poor elf, feeling unloved, sings his blues away. The reindeer and Mr. and Mrs. Claus find out what has happened. They remind the elves to accept others for who they are, no matter what their differences are.

Thank you goes out to the Red Cross Youth Group for emceeing the concert as well as bringing in Santa & Mrs. Claus, and preparing treat bags.

The Christmas concert was followed by the Invermay School Christmas dinner hosted by the Invermay School staff. Thank you to everyone who supported our dinner. Over $1,800 was raised, which will go towards programming and resources for all students from kindergarten to Grade 12. A huge thank you to our sponsors Olymel, Enge Farms, Tim & Marlene Chodak and Shop Easy Preeceville, Invermay School Staff and Invermay School families.

Invermay School has come up with a goal to purchase a new volleyball net and standards! Thank you goes out to the following for their contribution towards the new net and system: Enge Farms, Invermay School SRC, Invermay School Red Cross group, Invermay Rec Board, Invermay Clearview Agro, and Invermay School SCC. We are very appreciative of all donations that we’ve received so far. We hope to have enough funds to have a new volleyball net by Fall 2025!
