CANORA — The Canora/Sturgis RCMP responded to 29 calls from Aug. 29 to Sept. 5; some of which included:
- two 911 Act calls,
- two animal calls,
- one Child Welfare Act calls,
- one disturbing the peace,
- one false alarm,
- one Firearms Act call,
- one fraud,
- one mischief,
- one person reported missing,
- two suspicious persons,
- one theft,
- one theft of vehicle,
- seven traffic offenses,
- four vehicle collisions, and
- two wellbeing checks.
Not the power company
On Aug. 29, a man from Canora called 911 to report his power was out in his home. Police called the man back and determined there was no emergency.
Not really a service dog
The Canora/Sturgis RCMP responded to a call in Canora on Aug. 29 about a service dog being refused entry into a local business. Police investigated and determined that dog was not a certified service animal.
Busted vehicle window
The Canora/Sturgis RCMP were dispatched to motor vehicle collision on Highway 9 by Gorlitz on Aug. 30. The driver of the vehicle reported the rear driver’s side window was smashed out by an unknown object while driving traveling down the highway. Occupants of the vehicle received minor injuries from the broken glass.
Near cat-astrophe
On Aug. 30, the Canora/Sturgis RCMP assisted Animal Protection Services of Saskatchewan at a residence in the RM of Keys. Numerous cats were seized by APS.
Disputed branch
The Canora/Sturgis RCMP received a call on Aug. 31 from a man reporting that a branch was purposely placed onto property associated to the caller. A suspect was identified by the caller, however due to there being no witnesses to the event the matter was unable to be resolved.
No crime here
The Canora/Sturgis RCMP were called to a residence in Canora for a report of someone siphoning gas from a parked vehicle on Sept. 2. Police attended and determined that a jerry gas can was being used to add fuel into the vehicle.
Mysterious suitcase
On Sept. 3, the Canora/Sturgis RCMP responded to a suspicious suitcase call in Preeceville. Police attended and noted the suitcase to be an older style model. Further examination of the suitcase showed it was empty and it was disposed of.
