CANORA — The Canora/Sturgis RCMP responded to 33 calls from March 14 to March 21, some of which included:
- two 911 Act calls,
- one abandoned vehicle,
- one animal call,
- one break and enter,
- one bylaw call,
- one disturbing intimate images,
- one Fire Prevention Act call,
- one Mental Health Act call,
- four other provincial calls, 1
- 7 traffic offenses,
- one traffic collisions, and
- two wellbeing checks.
Making bad situation worse
On March 15, the Canora/Sturgis RCMP were dispatched to a stolen vehicle complaint in Canora. The caller reported his daughter took his green jeep without consent. A second call was received that a green jeep was involved in a collision in Kamsack. The woman was found on scene and arrested for impaired operation of a motor vehicle and taking motor vehicle without consent.
Horse/truck collision
The Canora/Sturgis RCMP were dispatched on March 15 to a collision on Highway 9 in the RM of Preeceville. The driver of the truck struck two horses. The driver and two passengers in the vehicle were not injured from the collision.
Collison or no collision?
The Canora/Sturgis RCMP were dispatched to a reported motor vehicle collision with the rail crossing signals on Highway 9 by Lady Lake on March 19. Police investigated and determined that no collision occurred with the crossing signals but the caller did have mechanical issues with his vehicle after it crossed over the tracks.
Be safe with found needles
On March 20, the Canora/Sturgis RCMP received a call about found needles on a driveway by the Canora Beach Road. Police attended and safety disposed of the needles. If you find needles, please call your local Public Health office for further instruction on the safe disposal of needles.
