Averil Hall, a member of the News Photographers Association of Canada, is an award-winning freelance photographer. Her work has appeared in the national press as well as Saskatchewan dailies. In addition to her primary work for the Battlefords News-Optimist her work has also been featured in Cut Knife and Meadow Lake newspapers. Her photos have also appeared in Prairie North magazine and the work of the National Film Board. Averil particularly enjoys taking sports, event and hard news photos.
Assignments of note include the Gerald Stanley murder trial, Prime Minister Trudeau’s visit to Poundmaker First Nation to exonerate Chief Poundmaker and the local coverage of two homeless First Nation individuals from North Battleford who were given bus tickets to go to Vancouver.
